Federico Morelli

Federico Morelli was born in Terni in 1961. He began painting very early.

Having trained artistically under the guidance of the Umbrian master Vittorio Cecchi, who directed him to the use of oil colors and liquid watercolours, he received his first recognition in 1974 in the Cathedral of Orvieto as part of the Various Art Competition.

Although directed at the Academy of Fine Arts, he undertook economic studies and worked as a business manager for international financial groups.

The passion for art always remains alive, he studies the techniques of the great Masters and participates in exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

He practices a Fauvist painting, which highlights the emotions and spirituality of human life with line and color.

His works are a commitment to the protection of the dignity and rights of every person, a conscious denunciation and a cry against war and every form of violence, inequality, repression and intolerance.

A light on the neglected realities existing on the margins of society and food for thought on human living conditions.

In August 2023, he was selected to exhibit at the 120th anniversary of the Salon d'Automne, at La Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris, in January 2024.

He continually experiments, moving from traditional painting techniques to new forms of digital art, with the application of blockchain and NFT technologies.

He founded an Art and Crafts Laboratory in Umbria, La Terra dell'Upupa, a meeting place for Art and Nature, with the aim of combining passion, creativity and beauty of doing with the values ​​of ethics, responsibility and sustainability.

He is the holder of the AIAP/UNESCO Professional Artist Card, issued by the International Association of Plastic Arts Italy, the Italian Committee of IAA/AIAP UNESCO.

Among the founding members of IAA/AIAP UNESCO there are artists such as Magritte, Braque, Calder, Hartung, Miro, Severini, Vasarely, Masson, Delaunay, Cesar, Billings, Laurencin, Matta, Lurcat, Lhote.

 

Awards 2023 – 2024

29 April 2023, at the Grande Scuola di San Teodoro, he received the "Maestri a Venezia" Award for his artistic value.

“The Lament of Peace”, which with Mariupol and The Azovstal Catacombs is part of the Losing the Soul trilogy, wins the 2023 Golden Mercury Prize for Visual Arts, awarded on 1 July by ArtExpo' Gallery in Cesenatico.

29 July, "God is dead" receives the Municipality of Montecosaro Award, as part of the 12th International Exhibition of Contemporary Art

14 September 2023, "Atlas holds the Celestial Vault" obtains the Artistic Press Award as part of the Sanremo International Biennial of Contemporary Art.

23 September 2023, “I will greet the Sun again” receives the Oscar for Creativity as part of the Monte Carlo Biennial Prize for Visual Arts

28 November 2023, as part of the Milan Biennale, he received the Fine Arts Award

22 December 2023, he received the Jacopo da Ponte Award from Spoleto Art Factory as proof of the depth of art and the importance of stylistic research

January 2, 2024, “Mariupol” receives the first prize, as part of the “Perceptions: between dream and reality” competition exhibition by Martina Franca
